Sport as a way to improve quality of life
It has been proven that the practice of sport helps people with intellectual disabilities enormously in countless ways: in terms of physical health (improving general physical condition), mental health (helping to reduce stress, anxiety and prevent depression), social skills (helping to establish friendships, learn to work in a team and improve self-esteem) and cognitive development (planning, decision making and concentration).
On the other hand, participating in a team representing Athletic Club in an official way contributes enormously to their process of inclusion and empowerment.

Weekly trainings with Athletic Club coaches
The team trains weekly at the Lezama sports facilities with Athletic Club coaches and plays in LaLiga Genuine, a project of the La Liga Foundation.
This championship is divided into four final phases, hosted by each of the La Liga Professional Football League clubs. The Athletic Club Foundation team has been the winner in the first five editions of the Fair Play trophy, which distinguishes the most sporting team of all those participating in the competition.
