The shelves of the Fidias Foundation will be filled with books to encourage reading among young people
Yesterday, the children at Fidias visited two bookshops in Bilbao, Joker and Camara, to receive reading recommendations and choose books suited to their tastes, thanks to a donation made by Athletic Club player Dani Vivian, together with a contribution from Athletic Club Fundazioa. The aim of this initiative is to create a small library at the Fidias facilities so that all users can enjoy reading.
The donation stems from an initiative by the Atrapavientos Association during the Bilbao Book Fair. Every year, the organization holds a dedication contest in which Rojiblanco defender Dani Vivian participated and won. The prize consisted of a voucher to be spent in bookshops in Bilbao, and Dani, due to his close relationship and commitment to Fundazioa, decided to donate the prize to Fidias, our project aimed at minors at risk of social exclusion, to promote their educational process and encourage coexistence through sports, recreational, and academic activities.
In addition to presenting the prize money, Dani Vivian made an additional financial contribution, which the Foundation matched, with the aim of encouraging reading among young people. Thanks to this, the children at Fidias were able to visit two well-known bookshops in Bilbao, where each of them chose a book based on the recommendations of the booksellers and their own interests. The afternoon was an enriching and enjoyable experience, and the selection of books was extremely varied: from manga comics and books about superheroes to historical works and classics such as Cervantes’ Don Quixote. Stories that, without a doubt, all Fidias users can enjoy.
About Fidias
The Fidias Foundation aims to promote the inclusion and interpersonal development of vulnerable children. To this end, it uses culture as a tool for transformation. For many years, it has received support from Athletic Club Fundazioa in this endeavor. Every week, Fundazioa coaches hold two multisport sessions at the FIDIAS headquarters in Lamiako, where they also work on values linked to Athletic and coexistence.
