The ‘Juvenil DH’ and ‘Femenino C’ squads experienced firsthand at La Catedral all the work that goes into staging an Athletic Club match. This experience complements those they have had at Lezama as part of their comprehensive, 360º formative process
Garathuz is a comprehensive formative program developed by the Lezama management in collaboration with the Athletic Club Foundation, whose objective is for the youth teams to have experiences that help them in their comprehensive training as individuals. These formative experiences, in turn, result in better athletic performance.
As part of the program, the ‘Juvenil División de Honor’ and ‘Femenino C’ teams had the opportunity to experience everything that goes into hosting an Athletic Club match at San Mames, beyond what happens on the pitch.
Matches against Real Madrid and Levante
Specifically, the players from the aforementioned teams attended the matches against Real Madrid and Levante and had the opportunity to experience the game from different and novel perspectives:
• The staff responsible for security at the stadium.
• The IMQ medical service that deals with any health emergencies.
• The way the media covers sports news before, during, and after the match.
• Customer service in the VIP area of the stadium.
Educational experiences and exposure to other professions
In addition to the educational experience gained from the activity, visiting San Mames on match day serves to expose players to different professions that may also be linked to the world of football.
For Athletic Club, it is essential that youth players receive a well-rounded education, emphasizing not only athletic training but also academic and personal development as part of the same growth process.
