Every test, every cure, every wait… is also a team game. And you are already part of a team that is unique in the world.
Supporting families when it matters most
SUPERTXAPELDUNAK is an initiative of Athletic Club Fundazioa in collaboration with Osakidetza and UEFA Foundation for Children. The aim is to accompany families during paediatric treatments and children´s hospital stays in Biscay, helping them to live these moments with more serenity, confidence and joy.
When science and heart play on the same team
It has been scientifically proven that the recovery processes of paediatric patients are more effective when hospital spaces and treatments are humanised. On this basis, SUPERTXAPELDUNAK is inspired by the values of Athletic Club -constancy, trust, teamwork and faith that good things come, even when they take time- to accompany families and children in the moments when they need it most.
Through the values, colours and the red and white spirit, the project turns the healthcare experience into a space where you can smile, learn and feel part of a team. Because Athletic, more than a club, is a partner every step of the way.
¿Cómo lo hacemos? Acompañando en cada paso
We have designed and produced different ways to materialise this accompaniment. These are:
Bibs for newborn babies
Each newborn baby receives a bib with the message ‘Ongi etorri familia eder honetara / Welcome to this great family’, together with the Club’s crest.
Supertxapeldun bracelets
During consultations, treatments and vaccinations, bracelets with the characters of the project and the slogan ‘Supertxapeldun’ are given out in recognition of the patients’ bravery and good behaviour.
Stickers
Hospitalised children receive stickers illustrated with the programme’s characters, reinforcing the positive messages and the feeling of belonging to a great team.
Diplomas
Upon discharge, each patient receives a diploma certifying that they are Supertxapeldun. The diploma is signed by the Athletic Club men’s and women’s team captains.
Decoration of facilities
Paediatric emergency rooms and other paediatric areas in public hospitals are decorated with the characters and messages of the project.
Hallway football
Hallway football matches in the hospital, with Athletic Club players.
Athletic Club gowns
Designed from the shirts of the first teams, their pattern has been modified to turn them into gowns, which make each child feel proud to wear the Athletic Club colours and the support of the club they love.
“TOGO” Reading club
The book TOGO by Oscar de Marcos is reissued in a special edition for adolescent patients, promoting meetings and reading clubs on the ward.
