About 150 people with intellectual disabilities took part in the tournament organised by the Foundation
The seventh edition of the Copa Ahalegina was held at Lezama on Sunday, October 6. It was a very special day both for the participants and their families and for the Athletic Club Foundation , a fun day that culminated in the presentation of prizes, including the original kit used by the different teams to play their matches. Taking part in this football tournament were the Adizmi (Bizkaia), Gorabide (Bizkaia), Fundación Síndrome de Down (Bizkaia), Gaude (Bizkaia) and Geu Be (Bizkaia) associations, with which the Athletic Club Foundation usually collaborates and where most of the Athletic Cub Foundation Genuine members come from. Also taking part in the Copa Ahalegina were the Apdema association from Alava.
The Athletic Club Foundation organised this one-day tournament in an Inclusive-Mixed 8-a-side football format, in such a way that approximately 150 players were split into ten different teams, mixing category (first, second and adapted), origin and gender. The aim of the tournament, and that of the Ahalegina programme , is to encourage the inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities, and to ensure their right of access to sport and participatory leisure, promoting the values of sport in a relaxed environment that goes beyond just the results.
