The Athletic Club Foundation team wins the Fair Play award in the world championship held in Houston, United States
The Athletic Club Fundazioa, our Genuine team, returned from their trip to Houston without any problems and with great happiness: they won the most important award of the championship, the Fair Play award.
Specifically, they received this award, as stated by the organisation, for being the best for their energy and sympathy. In short, Athletic Club values that the Genuine lions and lionesses, along with the coaching staff, take with them wherever they go.
The reception for the champions at Loiu airport was a party. Family and friends congratulated the team with shouts of Txapeldunak, Txapeldunak. An extraordinary experience that has left a magnificent taste in the mouth.
Thirty-eight clubs from all over the world took part in this championship. From Europe, well-known clubs such as Rangers FC, Newcastle United, Manchester City, Manchester United, Club Brugge, Werder Bremen, Bayer Leverkusen, SL Benfica, Sporting CP, Paris Saint-Germain, AS Roma, Inter Milan or Ajax.
In addition, from the other continents, teams such as Tigres UANL and Club América (Mexico), Atlanta United and Inter Miami (USA), Corinthians (Brazil), Peñarol (Uruguay), Boca Juniors and Racing Club (Argentina), FC Seoul (South Korea) or Yokohama F. Marinos (Japan) played in this championship.
All of them, without a doubt, took away a fabulous memory of Athletic Genuine, thanks to the sportsmanship and joy of both players and coaches. Zorionak!
