Users of different Foundation projects and players of Athletic Club have shared an activity together
This morning, Lezama’s sports facilities were the scene of a special event organized by the Athletic Club Foundation on the occasion of International Women’s Day. The event has brought together over 60 users of various projects promoted by the Foundation, including the Bizkaia Mental Health Network (RSMB), Utopia, Eragintza and Argia, with the aim of promoting inclusive sport and equality.
Since 10:00 in the morning, participants have been coming to Lezama to share a sports activity designed in collaboration with GaituzSport. Before the sitting, the various groups have decorated the camp with posters and banners with vindictive messages prepared for the occasion. In addition, the RSMB of Osakidetza has been organizing the event and distributing commemorative T-shirts.
The day has been a space for reflection and coexistence, where sport has served as a tool to promote equality, inclusion and female empowerment. Each of the participating entities works in different areas of social inclusion. Osakidetza’s RSMB project accompanies people with mental health disorders, promoting their well-being. Utopia, on the other hand, is a project aimed at women in vulnerable situations, with the objective of creating a safe space for them through weekly multisport training sessions. Eragintza focuses her work on the socio-occupational insertion of people with mental illness, and approximately 50 people from occupational centers train on Wednesdays and Thursdays with Fundazioa technicians sharing values such as effort, solidarity and equal opportunities, fundamental pillars in the philosophy of the Club. Argia, in the same vein, works with people with mental health problems, improving their quality of life.
A special closure with the players of the first team
The participants had the opportunity to meet several players from the first Athletic Club team. After the activity, they have shared some time with them, taking pictures, chatting and receiving autographs.
Initiatives such as this strengthen the Athletic Club Foundation’s commitment to gender equality and social inclusion. Through football and direct contact with female sport leaders, the participants have been able to experience an enriching experience that highlights the role of women in all areas of society.
