Former Athletic Club players Enrique González and Goiuri Lozano receive financial aid from the Foundation to complete their university studies
The Athletic Club Foundation has been running a scholarship programme for several years for players who were released from Lezama the previous season, but who made a determined effort to combine sport and studies while they were at Athletic Club. These scholarships are intended to reward this effort, as well as the players’ involvement in their studies.
For the Foundation, it is important to reward the academic side beyond the sporting aspect and, by doing so, to encourage positive behaviour. This year, the former Athletic Club players who have received scholarships are Enrique González, who last season played for the youth team, and Goiuri Lozano, a former player in Athletic Club women’s third team. In both cases, the Foundation has given them financial aid to pay for a full year of their studies at the University of the Basque Country / Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea, as well as other expenses related to their studies.
