HOPE THROUGH SPORT

This project is aimed at adolescents at risk of social exclusion from the Bizkaia area (Ortuella, Areatza, and Bilbao)

In collaboration with the Berriztu Association, we form three mixed groups each season, led by coaches from the Athletic Club Foundation.

The main objective is to create a protected environment that provides access to sport and leisure, enabling them to progress in their socialisation and inclusion processes.

ADOLESCENTS SUPPORTED IN THEIR EDUCATIONAL AND BEHAVIOURAL PROCESSES

WEEKLY TRAINING IN SOCIO-EDUCATIONAL PROJECTS

The Foundation collaborates with Berriztu at the centres in Areatza, Bilbao, and Ortuella, participating through weekly training sessions in the individual socio-educational projects that the association develops for adolescents facing issues related to parental violence, gender-based violence, serious criminal convictions, and those at risk of social exclusion.

These young athletes are engaged in a process of re-education and social integration. The joint effort between the Foundation and Berriztu allows us to help them acquire and improve skills and behaviours for their daily lives.

The three groups train once a week at facilities located in their respective municipalities

The sessions address both sporting issues and personal behaviour, coexistence, hygiene, and daily habits.

The presence of our coaches is essential, as they become authority figures and role models for adolescents who often lack such references, and may even have had negative role models.

Throughout the season, activities are organised to complement the weekly training, such as matches with other groups from the Foundation, a tournament with Berriztu Navarra in Tajonar, museum visits, and more.
