The Foundation strengthens its commitment to measuring social impact and consolidates its role as a driver of positive change beyond football
In 2025, Athletic Club Fundazioa generated more than €24 million in Social Value, reflecting the organisation’s ability to make a positive impact on people and communities through its sporting, educational and social programmes. The assessment, carried out in collaboration with consultancy LKS using the Social Accounting methodology, underlines the Foundation’s commitment to transparency, accountability and continuous improvement.
Creating value where it matters most
The analysis shows that a significant proportion of the value generated is concentrated in areas directly linked to people’s wellbeing and the strengthening of the community. Particularly noteworthy are initiatives focused on health, sport, the environment and support for the network of Partner Clubs, which are key pillars of the Foundation’s work.
Behind every figure are personal stories that demonstrate the true reach of the social impact generated. Testimonials from programmes such as the Partner Clubs, the Mental Health Network and the Athletc Club Genuine help illustrate how the Foundation’s work extends far beyond sport, becoming a tool for inclusion, personal development and support.
Among them, footballer and coach Maria Zeberio highlights the educational and social value of football: “Football is everything. Regional leagues, Primera Federación or LaLiga.”
Mikel Letxe, a user of the Mental Health Network, also highlights the importance of these initiatives in breaking down barriers and creating spaces for people to come together: “When people from the Foundation come, it’s really positive. They realise that we’re not criminals, but people who are ill.”
Meanwhile, members of Athletic Club Genuine, Igor Porset and Eneko Apoita, sum up what the Club means to them. “For me, Athletic Club means pride, excitement and having a great time,” says Igor, while Eneko recalls: “Ever since I was a little boy, my dream has always been to play for Athletic Club, and I’ve achieved that dream.”
Another example of how the work of Athletic Club Fundazioa makes a difference comes from renowned writer Irvine Welsh. During his recent visit to the Letras y Fútbol 2026 festival, he described the experience as“truly amazing. The Club’s history and philosophy, together with its connection to the community, make it a truly unique club, unlike any other.”
With this latest impact assessment, Athletic Club Fundazioa reaffirms its commitment to creating shared value and contributing to a more inclusive, healthy and cohesive society. This work demonstrates that the impact of Athletic Club extends far beyond the pitch, placing people at the heart of everything it does.
Football is everything when not everything is football.
