Through the program called Bizkaia Koopera, the Athletic Club Foundation has been one of the entities chosen by the Provincial Council of Bizkaia to develop the Sustainable Development Goals in developing countries based on the defence of Universal Human Rights, both political and civil together with the economic, social and cultural ones, as well as the empowerment of women.

Athletic Club is one of the excellent entities in the territory
The cooperation department of the Provincial Council proposed the idea of putting Athletic Club’s knowledge and experience into the development of a social project and into another one of women’s empowerment through football in Lima, Peru.
Along with our Foundation, the other entities that collaborate in Bizkaia Koopera are: ABAO Bilbao Opera, AED, Bilbao School of Hotel Management, Women for Africa Foundation, and Guggenheim Museum Bilbao Foundation.

Solidarity projects
The Athletic Club Foundation develops two solidarity projects located in Peru, VILLAGOL and ATHLETIC VILLA (specifically for women), in the Villa El Salvador neighbourhood of the city of Lima, in which it has the on-site participation of ADDVES (Sports and Development Association of Villa El Salvador), with which the Sports and Development Association of Barakaldo (DEPYDES) has collaborated since 2006 in carrying out projects focused on human development through sports activities.
Villa El Salvador is a municipality in Lima that is greatly affected by violence, and where young people under 14 years of age have access to firearms in their daily lives. Their membership in street gangs kept them away from school and brought them closer to drugs or to committing acts of common crime such as robbery and assault.
