Scholarship programme for players

Since the 2014/15 season, the Athletic Club Foundation has maintained a scholarship programme for players who leave the club for sporting reasons.

Thanks to these scholarships, several players have enjoyed a year of studies fully paid for by the Foundation, either at local universities or in the United States or Ireland.

Athletic Club has a commitment to its players that goes far beyond the field of play

During their years at the academy, they are taught that it is essential for them to focus on their studies and the means are provided to make it possible for studying and playing football to be complementary.

At the Foundation we understand that it is very important that this effort to make sporting and academic demands compatible should be rewarded when, for whatever reason, the sporting link with the club is broken.

Rewarding effort

The scholarships are decided by the sports management and seek to reward the effort that the player has made during his or her years of training at Lezama to combine sport and studies. They are awarded and coordinated by the Foundation, with a maximum of six per year, and they may not be awarded completely or may even be left vacant.
