The Athletic Club Foundation presents a new edition of the irakurLE-ON campaign to promote reading
The Athletic Club Foundation’s new 2020/21 irakurLE-ON campaign to encourage reading is now underway. In order to promote the initiative, copies of three large posters made by illustrators Maite Gurrutxaga, Jordi Lafebre and David de las Heras will be distributed free of charge to educational centres and football clubs in Biscay. Each of the illustrators has freely developed the idea of showing reading as one of the values associated with Athletic Club and being an athlete, as well as highlighting that it is an activity that encourages socialisation.
Maite Gurrutxaga has presented a poster aimed at the little ones, in which a pride of lions and lionesses reads in a group in a peaceful atmosphere. Jordi Lafebre‘s illustration, also aimed at children, associates reading with adventure and fun, presenting a lioness running in San Mamés with a copy of “Treasure Island” in her hands, together with a group of children. Finally, David de las Heras has presented an illustration aimed at teenagers: a hyper-realistic portrait of Iñaki Williams, who appears reading the book “Togo” by Óscar de Marcos, with a panther and a lion on each side.
A total of eight thousand posters have been published and will be sent free of charge to education centres and football clubs that joined the campaign in previous years, as well as to all education centres who request one by contacting the following email address: [email protected]
The irakurLE-ON campaign to promote reading is linked to the Letters and Football Festival of Literature and Football and is supported by the Provincial Council of Bizkaia and the Ministry of Culture and Sports.
