With the good taste of yesterday’s celebration in their mouths, Athletic Club Fundazioa play this weekend the third phase of the season in the Canary Islands
Represented by two of their captains, Josu and Iratxe, the Genuine took part in the celebration of the 25th Cup title on Thursday. The moment when Josu and Muniain lifted the trophy together during the institutional meal prior to the departure of La Gabarra, while Iratxe sang “Champiñones, champiñones” with the winning team, napkins in the air, will live long in the memory. Eli Ibarra and Igor Arenaza accompanied the two captains throughout the day and escorted La Gabarra along with the champions of ’84.
With that good taste in their mouths, Josu and Iratxe and the rest of the Genuine team, together with the coaches Nora, María, Ibai and Igor himself, set off for Tenerife from Loiu. Before catching the plane they posed in Lezama with the “Txapeldunak” t-shirts.
Athletic Genuine is in the Inclusion Group, one of the two groups into which the 46 participating clubs in LaLiga are divided.
In the First Phase, Athletic Genuine faced Valencia CF, UD Almeria and UD Ibiza, obtaining the highest possible score in the Fair Play. In the second phase, their rivals were Córdoba CF, Club Gimnástic de Tarragona, and Levante UD EDI.
In this third phase, they will face CA Osasuna (Saturday, 12:00), Real Zaragoza (Saturday, 18:30) and RCD Mallorca (Sunday, 10:30).
