The event will take place on March23 and 24, with Athletic preparing and exciting day for our Partner Clubs and local fans
Athletic Cub, via our Foundation, will present the Euskal Non-League Day 2024 programme to Partner Clubs at Wednesday evening on Wednesday. This celebration of local, non-professional football will be held over the weekend of March 23 and 24, taking advantage of the international break and a weekend without fixtures in LaLiga.
The aim of Euskal Non-League day is to highlight the work done by our non-league affiliated teams across The Basque Country, recognising their importance in producing young players and the role they play in their respective communities. To this end, in addition to showing these clubs the love and appreciation they deserve, Athletic has organised a series of giveways to help fans get in the spirit to enjoy this second edition of Euskal Non-League Day.
Trips, tickets and jerseys
Each of the participating Partner Clubs will receive a set of raffle tickets for giveaways organised by Athletic Club. The price of each ticket will be €3 and the money raised will go entirely to the club concerned, who in turn will be able to donate part of the amount to a social organisation in the community.
The three prizes (two general and one for each participating club) available are as follows:
-
- Double ticket, trip and accommodation for two people to travel with the men’s first team to a LaLiga away match. This is the first general prize in which all numbers are entered.
- Double ‘Lions Experience’ ticket for a LaLiga match at San Mames. Includes VIP seats, welcome pack, and going inside the stadium to watch the players arrive, experience the warm-up pitchside, and a chance to meet a Lion at the end of the match. Second general prize in which all numbers are entered.
- Double tickets for a match at San Mames. The draw for this prize will take place at the respective grounds of all the Partner Clubs involved. The draws will take place at half-time. The winner must be at the ground to receive their prize.
In addition, to encourage attendance at the local grounds, all those who share a photograph of a local match on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook on 23 and 24 March using the hashtag #EuskalNonLeagueDay will enter giveaways for a jersey signed by the men’s first team, one signed by the women’s first team and two tickets for a LaLiga match at San Mames.
A movement with deep roots in the UK
After the positive feedback from the first Euskal Non-League Day, which took place on 20 Basque pitches over 9-10 September 2023, Athletic Club has organised a second event on March 23-24, the same dates as they original Non-League Day in the United Kingdom. The British version began in 2010 with the aim of using a specific day during an international break to support non-professional football.
Athletic Club, believing the values promoted by this initiative reflect its own identity, maintains a close relationship with the UK movement and its founder James Doe. As a result of this friendship (James Doe visited us during the first Euskal Non-League Day), in the near future Athletic Club will announce further collaborations between the two events. Athletic took part in last year’s edition of Non-League Day UK by teaming up with Dulwich Hamlet as a large group of Athleticzales attended their match against Oxford City at Champion Hill in South London.
