On Sunday 18, Bilbao’s Gran Vía becomes a party to host different leisure and sports activities related to sustainable mobility
The Athletic Club Foundation joins the EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK that Bilbao city promotes every year between September 16th and 22th, and which this year bears the slogan of “Better Connections”. On the agenda scheduled for Sunday morning on Bilbao’s Gran Vía, the Athletic Foundation will participate in the festival in favor of sustainable mobility through two fun activities. On one side, the “Bombonera”, a football field of reduced dimensions (10 x 15), and, on the other, the “Football in bubbles” modality, in which the participants play a game immersed in a bubble. A great way to spend Sunday morning with the family and to support sustainable mobility.
Bilbao has been participating since 2000 in the European Mobility Week, a campaign aimed at raising public awareness of the benefits of sustainable urban mobility and the use of these modes of transport, among which are the public transport, cycling, walking, car sharing systems, etc.
In 2019, the Athletic Club Foundation presented an agreement with the Mobility and Sustainability Area that involved the start-up of Bike Racks for 50 bicycles in San Mamés with the aim of making it easier for fans to go to matches by this means of transport. Likewise, the Foundation studies the mobility process of its members on the dates of holding sporting events with a view to progressively reducing C02 emissions and continues to delve into the promotion of public transport and electric fleets for Club mobility. Another example of contribution is the program to compensate for C02 emissions through the planting of trees that they carry out with the Lurgaia Foundation.
