{"id":18366,"date":"2026-01-23T11:17:42","date_gmt":"2026-01-23T10:17:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fundazioa.athletic-club.eus\/?p=18366"},"modified":"2026-01-23T11:34:27","modified_gmt":"2026-01-23T10:34:27","slug":"newcastle-follow-something-unique-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fundazioa.athletic-club.eus\/en\/blog\/newcastle-follow-something-unique-5\/","title":{"rendered":"From Peru to Bilbao, united by Athletic Club"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-headline-3-font-size\"><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>Three representatives from the VillaGol &amp; Bizkaia Koopera project, developed in the Villa El Salvador district of Lima by the association \u2018Deporte y Desarrollo\u2019 (Sport and Development), in collaboration with the Athletic Club Foundation and the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, visit Ibaigane<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Currently, the VillaGol &amp; Bizkaia Koopera project improves the quality of life of around 150 girls who play football in a federated league, as part of a programme of activities in which more than 3,000 boys and girls participate each season. The project was launched in 2006, when the \u2018Deporte y Desarrollo\u2019 association in Barakaldo and the \u2018Villa El Salvador\u2019 association in Lima joined forces with the aim of providing sports facilities for girls and teenagers in the community, promoting children&#8217;s rights through sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>The project is part of the Bizkaia Koopera programme promoted by the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, which involves non-traditional actors in development cooperation, adding their influence and experience, in this case, to the defence of children&#8217;s rights, equal opportunities and the empowerment of girls and adolescents through sport, especially in contexts of social vulnerability.<br>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The following individuals attended the meeting:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022 <strong>Johana Ruiz Olabuenaga<\/strong>, Director of Social Affairs at Athletic Club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022 <strong>Galder Reguera<\/strong>, Project Manager at the Athletic Club Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022 <strong>Teresa Laespada<\/strong>, Regional Minister for Employment, Social Cohesion and Equality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022 <strong>Natxo Rodr\u00edguez<\/strong>, Director of Social Cohesion at the Provincial Council of Bizkaia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022 <strong>Juan Abanto<\/strong>, President of the Villa El Salvador Sports and Development Association. Founder of Athletic Villa and social activist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022 <strong>Gianela Alvarado<\/strong>, futsal and football player and youth coach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
