The agreement is the result of common interest in promoting sport as a tool for social inclusion
Fundazioa and Club Deportivo Bilbao have recently signed a collaboration agreement so that the Foundation can carry out its social projects at the Club Deportivo facilities. The first social project to benefit from this agreement is the Sortarazi project, aimed at adults at risk of social exclusion in Bilbao. Thus, on weekday mornings, for an hour, the main fronton of the Sports Club becomes a multisport training ground for Sortarazi users.
The signing of the agreement took place in Ibaigane and was attended, on behalf of the Athletic Club Foundation, by Juan Carlos Ercoreca, Jon Vázquez Eguskiza and Andoni Goikoetxea, and on behalf of Club Deportivo Bilbao, Iñaki López Negrete, Susana Pérez and Óscar Marín. In addition, both entities have agreed to study the possibility of expanding the collaboration to new social projects.
Sortarazi is a Claretian association that works for the social inclusion of people in a situation or at risk of exclusion in Bizkaia through the integral development of their capacities. It is a multidisciplinary task in which sport plays an important role as a source of physical and mental health. Weekly training sessions led by the Foundation’s technicians promote sport in a climate of mutual help. An experience that incorporates habits and values that help in the comprehensive work carried out by associations that work in favor of groups at risk of social exclusion.
